Statement
Born and raised in Southern Illinois, I live and study art in Elizabeth, New Jersey. I am currently getting my BFA in Studio Arts from Kean University. Using my artistic practice, I connect to the wonderous side of all of us, speaking to our inner children.
My illustration mediums include watercolor, gouache, ink, colored pencil, and found objects like iridescent cellophane, foil, and rhinestones. I also design stained glass, assemblage sculptures, and embroidered works.
As I continue to tell visual stories, my personal mythology grows. Pulling from various sources within the cultural ethos we live in, my world consists a bricolage of religion, spirituality, nature, and fantasy. The mythos I’ve constructed of angels, guardian spirits, knights, and heroes is one which awakens the childlike sense of wonder we all have within us. After all, creating art has always been a form of play for me.
